Long and Short Vowel Old Maid Card Game- Fun practice with Phonics Games, http://tiny.cc/Phonicsgames
This week we have another Phonics card game. Practicing long and short vowel words help children recognize and pronounce the different ways you can find the different combinations.
As with each of the old maid card games, you may use cards from this game with the “Dog” game rules or any other game rules that use pairs of information.
The newest game at teachwithgames.com is a MatchIt Card game. The first to teach phonics. I have several other MatchIt games out there, for math, Science and parts of speech. Please let me know how you like it with phonics.
Players practice reading while enjoying the game…so everyone’s happy. The words are all working with the letters and sounds wh as in who, wh as in when, ch as in chill, kn as in know, and sw as in swim. ‘Making’ kids play the game is like ‘letting’ them read a phonics chart. (or vise versa ;))

Today’s Free printable game is another Phonics Board game. I am using mostly initial sounds in these games lately. I hope they are useful I haven’t had any comments- good or bad– so I guess I keep on.
